It's About Helix Piercing

YUHUWWWWW.

Finally I'm back. I'm gonna tell you about helix piercing. What's helix piercing? When I said "look at my new helix piercing" to my friend and she was like "what's helix piercing?". Helix piercing is the upper ear is pierced, well I'm not really good at explaining this, but just look at the picture below.

So now you know what's helix piercing. I think helix piercing is cool and after I did an online research it's not really hurt as tragus or industrial piercing. If you are interested to have helix piercing, you should read this article till end (I always force you guys to read my articles till the end haha).

Note: all the tips based on my experiences and my online research.

Do Online Research.
I did my online research about helix piercing about six months before I got my ear pierced. Why it took me so long? Because I was not really sure about helix piercing, 'does it hurt? how do I take care of it? how long does it take for a helix piercing to heal?'. I did my online research by youtube and trusted website and yeah based on other people's experiences as well. The more I know about it, the more I am sure to have it.

Find Trusted Piercer.
You can get your ear pierced in tattoo shop or even in jewelry shop or we say it in Indonesia as toko emas. I went to 3 places to know where's the best place to get helix piercing. I went to a tattoo shop and two jewelry shops in mall. I decided to have my ear got pierced in D'Paris Bandung Indah Plaza. My friend once told me she got her lobe piercing there so yeah I trust that place and it is trusted and hygienic. It cost 200.000 IDR or 14 USD.

Make Sure Your Piercer Use A Needle Not A Gun.
Luckily you are do your research first, because got pierced with a gun especially in cartilage area it would be damage such as keloid. I watched a youtuber she told that she got keloid on her helix piercing site because she got pierced by a gun. Make sure your piercer using a needle because it more hygienic and a lot more safe.

It's Not Hurt At All.
When the piercer got ready to pierce my cartilage I was nervous and I asked her to gave me a command. When she said 'three' *cus* IT'S NOT HURT AT ALLLLLLLLL. 1000000% NOT HURT. But I know it depends on your pain tolerance and I am used to injection, so yeah for me it's not hurt.

But It's Hurt After.
For the first day I didn't find any hurt feelings in my cartilage. In the second, third, forth, and so on, yes it was hurt ARGHHHH. From 1-10 I give it 8 on the second till forth day, but the day after it was like 5 or 6. But it's just a moment pain and it'll go pretty quickly. I got my piercing on my left ear, so I slept to the right side and/or reclined, because it will hurt you when you sleep to your piercing side. It will hurt you. Once again it will hurt you. So, be careful kids.

It Took Me More Than 3 Months To Fully Heal.
Yes it's a long long time. Unlike the lobe piercing that can fully heal for a month. I got my piercing in April 2018 and now it's August. I think it's fully heal now, but still sometimes I feel the pain at the moment. If you want a speed recovery make sure you clean you pierce site and your piercing everyday until you don't have any dry pus. I'm not clean my piercing and my ear in the end of July because there were not a dry pus came out.

It's Itchy And I Got Infection.
Again, this is based on my experience, not all got the infection. But yes I'm sure people with helix piercing sometimes feel itchy. I found out the infection was like a balloon near to the piercing and one day I saw that balloon was popped out and it turned to bloods. The best thing I can do was clean it with salt water.

Clean It Everyday.
Make sure your hands are clean, if it's not clean, it could transfer the bacteria to the wound. I usually clean it with sea salt water, first of all I use a shot glass of warm water and one tea spoon of salt. Stir it and use the cotton bud and hold it against my ear. If I feel lazy to make the salt water I use the baby oil, the piercer said it will help you but not as fast as the sea salt water. Just remember, clean it everyday to speed recovery ;)

Don't Take Off Your Piercing.
Yep, don't take off your piercing until it fully heal. I never take my piercing off until now because I don't know how to take it HAHA. The piercer said so, if your wound still not heal, don't take your piercing off because it could damage the wound. Take it off when it's fully heal and put it again as soon as possible, if we take it and not put it in 3 hours the piercing hole will close and you can not put the piercing again. If you want to change the jewelry make sure it's not cheap piece that won't  hold up to daily use.

Don't Swim.
This based on my online research that we are not allowed to swim in a pool or even in a beach. Why? Pool is full of chemical materials such as chlorine and it's not really clean (especially public pool). Wait until your ear is fully heal and you can slay in the pool with your hella kewl helix piercing.

I think it's enough from me. It's all based on my experience and the last point based on my online research. Not all will get the infection, it was because I skip 3 days not cleaning it so yeah maybe it affect the piercing. Be patient and be strong because you are cool.

XOXO, Nadila.
